Buddy's Story
|
I had a nest in my awning outside my front door, a baby bird fell out and with gloves on, I put it back in the nest but it fell out again. So I took it in the house and the next day (after a night of every two hours feeding) I called rehab and they said they didn't want it. So, now I am was going to take care of it until it can be released to the wild. At the time, I thought it was about 3 weeks old, and thought it was a sparrow. It had a chipped beak and a bruised wing, and I fed it formula that night, and called rehab in the morning, only to find out that they are not taking any sparrows. I could not just let it lose outside to get ate by a stray cat or worse, so I raised it. We got to be very good friends, and Buddy, (I had to give it a name, didn't I) would spend most of his time snuggled in my hair, or around my neck. He became so domesticated, that I now have a new member of the flock. He is now 6 months old, and a very happy, healthy bird. I have since learned that Buddy is a house finch. |
