Rockford began construction of Beacon Hill at Eastgate in 2009, a continuing care retirement community designed to meet the physical, social and spiritual needs of residents in a home-like Christian atmosphere. Beacon Hill at Eastgate features 114 apartments, varying between 13 different floor plans. Situated on the former site of Metropolitan Hospital, the facility features a community center with multiple dining venues, health and wellness facilities (including a swimming pool), activity spaces, chapel, underground parking, outdoor gardens, club room, administrative office spaces, a 10,000 sq. ft. café, and a 250-seat auditorium. Each space features high-end finishes, including custom millwork and woodwork. The adjacent healthcare facility was also renovated, specifically the skilled nursing, memory support, occupational and physical therapy, assisted living commons and dining and assisted living entry areas.
