Rockford Construction Announces Leadership Changes to Support Growth
Dan Buskirk and Steve Frederickson step into new executive roles at the nationally recognized firm
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., February 11, 2025 — Rockford Construction, a nationally recognized construction, real estate development and property management firm, announced that Dan Buskirk and Steve Frederickson have been appointed to new leadership roles. Buskirk will serve as chief operating officer, while Frederickson has been named executive vice president and chief growth officer.
The leadership changes follow Rockford’s recent announcement that former President and COO Shane Napper will lead the firm as president and chief executive officer, succeeding co-founder Mike VanGessel, who stepped down earlier this year.

"I’m pleased that Dan and Steve will be working together to lead the company into its next stage of growth,” Napper said. “Rockford’s continued growth will be based on our team’s expertise, commitment to innovation, and relationship focus. Together, Dan and Steve will align Rockford’s team, processes, technology and capabilities with our clients’ changing needs as we work toward our vision of building a better world.”
As chief operating officer, Buskirk will drive the adoption of innovative technologies to improve efficiency while continuing to oversee construction operations. He will work closely with market and regional leaders to deliver exceptional service to clients. With nearly 11 years at the firm, he has served as education market leader, vice president of education and most recently, senior vice president of operations.
With more than 25 years of construction management experience, Buskirk previously worked at the construction and development firm Skanska, supporting projects in the pharmaceutical, multi-family, retail and education sectors. He is a LEED-accredited professional and is committed to the strategic growth and professional development of Rockford’s team. Buskirk will also foster relationships and engage with local trade contractors, recognizing the importance of these partnerships.

Frederickson, who has been with Rockford for four years, will oversee Rockford’s markets and regions, strategic industry partnerships and client service and satisfaction in his roles as executive vice president and chief growth officer. He previously served as executive vice president of corporate operations and held the position of health and well-being market leader.
Before joining Rockford, Frederickson was president and chief operating officer at the Christman Company, a commercial construction management firm, where he led the company to significant growth. Also a LEED-accredited professional, Frederickson has served on many boards that support the advancement of the industry and philanthropy in the community.
